4-11-23 Alert

Good Morning, New Mexico Activists:

We have three events to tell you about tomorrow and Thursday. There’s lots to talk about and lots to learn! We hope you can fit these opportunities into your schedule.

  1. Retake’s last Legislative Huddle of the season: Weds., April 12, 6-7 p.m. Please join us to wrap-up our discussion of the 2023 Session, continue our discussion about climate change action, and talk about where we go from here. What’s up with all those vetoes from the Governor?!  Register at this link.
  2. Webinar: The Social & Solidarity Economy (SSE) Movement, Thurs., April 13, 12 – 1:30 p.m. This online event from UNM’s Latin American & Iberian Institute, is moderated by Eric Griego Montoya, includes SSE & Municipalism in Europe – The Barcelona Experience with Local Economic Democracy; SSE in Latin America – Solidarity Economic Circuits & SSE Networks; and SSE in the U.S. – Progress & Challenges. Let’s learn about the possibilities for SSE in our state! Register at this link. And see Paul’s interview with Eric Griego at this link.
  3. Webinar: The People Against Avangrid, Thurs., April 13, 5:30 – 7 p.m. with Host and Moderator Laila Atalla. Learn more about why we need to stop the PNM/Avangrid merger! Hear from community activists and experts: Former PRC Commissioner (and current State Auditor) Joe Maestas, Our Power Co-Founder Seth Berry from Maine, Policy Specialist for Metro Justice in New York Michelle Wenderlich, and New Energy Economy Executive Director Mariel Nanasi. Register at this link.

Related red flag: I was alarmed to read in today’s New Mexican that Avangrid (article at this link) is set to oversee a large hydrogen production project in our state. Is that regardless of the merger outcome? Let’s hope not! We’ll look into this and let you know what we learn.

    In Gratitude & Solidarity,

    Roxanne and Paul
