KSFR Show on Saturday Will Be Special; Kingian Non-violence Training Coming

News on a two-day Kingian Non-Violence Civil Disobedience Training led by Dr. Bernard Lafayette Jr., American Civil Rights Leader and recipient of the Gandhi International Humanitarian Award. Sunday, Oct 15, 7-8:30pm.  House Party with Tomás Rivera, Chainbreaker Collective, at the home of Esther Kovari, 810 W Manhattan, Santa Fe. You will learn more about racial and economic injustice in Santa Fe and learn how you can support the work of Chainbreaker Collective, which is working to promote economic equity in Santa Fe. Tomás Rivera of Chainbreaker will be there to tell us about the work of this remarkable grass-roots organization. This is part of Chainbreaker’s Equity Summer campaign to educate the community about the inequities in our city and to raise funds for the work of the organization. Please let Esther know if you will be coming. We will have a special interview with the Economics of Happiness Conference Coordinator, Melissa Pickett, and she has arranged to include Helena Norberg-Hodge on the air from England. For more info and to purchase tickets, click here. Hodge is the founder and director of Local Futures, previously known as the International Society for Ecology and Culture (ISEC). Local Futures is a non-profit organization dedicated to the revitalization of cultural and biological diversity, and the strengthening of local communities and economies worldwide. Norberg-Hodge is the author of Ancient Futures (1991), a book about tradition and change in the Himalayan region of Ladakh. An outspoken critic of economic globalization, she co-founded – along with Jerry Mander, Doug Tompkins, Vandana Shiva, Martin Khor and others – the International Forum on Globalization (IFG) in 1994. She is a leading proponent of localization as an antidote to the problems arising from globalization, and founded the International Alliance for Localization (IAL) in 2014. Norberg-Hodge produced and co-directed the award-winning documentary film The Economics of Happiness (2011), which lays out her arguments against economic globalization and for localization.

Join the Southern Christian Leadership Conference New Mexico Chapter at SFAI for a  2-day introductory training to Kingian Nonviolence philosophy and methodology. The training will be led by Dr. Bernard Lafayette Jr., American Civil Rights Leader and recipient of the Gandhi International Humanitarian Award, with co-trainer Jonathan “Globe” Lewis.

That’s it for today.
