Inspiration from Nina Turner & Rev. Wm Barber

You’ll be inspired by Rev. Barber’s 14-point Fusion Politics Strategy, a model we will consider here. Another inspiration: a 4-minute video of Nina Turner speaking at an MLK Jr Rally in DC on Saturday. And a link to the full I Have a Dream speech, just to get you pumped.

Martin Luther King, Jr. 1963-2017

We have compiled a post in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. that includes a link to the annual Roundhouse MLK Rally, a brief summary of Rev. Wm. Barber’s 14-point Fusion Movement strategies, an inspiring 4 minute speech delivered by Nina Turner — she is riveting and inspiring. We close with ‘the speech,” MLK, Jr’s historic “I’ve Got a Dream,” speech from 1963.

The Third Reconstruction and Reverend Wm. Barber’s 14-Point Fusion Movement Strategies. The Third Reconstruction is a remarkable 135-page book that details Rev. Barber’s evolution from preacher to organizer (and preacher). It provides a summary of precisely how Rev. Barber developed his Fusion Movement approach to organizing, how he strategically formed alliances, how he used civil disobedience, how he used moral language to unify groups who previously had been splintered by the 1%, and how he organized not around elections but around issues, issues where people of all colors had common ground: the same force opposing justice. The last chapter of the book is a discussion of his 14 strategies. Click here to review the 14-point plan.

I hope that the combined impact of these two speeches and Rev. Barber’s inspiring direction has you ready to walk through walls, because that is what we will have to do. Together. If you have not already signed up to become part of an Action Team, please sign-up to take action by clicking here.
