Solidarity with Our Immigrants & More

Heinrich takes a stand with Standing Rock. Time to Pressure Udall, Lujan, & Lujan-Grisham. Solidarity with our immigrants…here’s how & a big organizing meeting announced for Dec 11.

immigration Much to report, but I want to keep it short. Over 300 people have signed up for different roles and we are a tad overwhelmed. One thing needs to be said. We are all volunteer, juggling multiple priorities, as are you. Our goal is to make it easier to be engaged and active in the political process. But this is not a two week journey. It is a long, long journey and Retake Our Democracy leadership is trying to develop a strong infrastructure capable of galvanizing and activating thousands of people. This will not happen in a month. Our first meeting was November 20th, less than two weeks ago. Please be patient as we are working as quickly as possible to organize the structures and supports necessary to sustain our collective effort for the years ahead.

We badly need coordinators to manage the different initiatives moving forward and we can’t get the Center for Progress & Justice so, as described in this link, we are scheduling an organizational planning meeting for December 11 with a series of rolling sessions with slots for different initiatives planned. This will not be someone talking at you, but a nitty gritty meeting where Action Teams will decide who can coordinate actions going forward, what needs to get done, who will do it. Click here to find out how you can be involved.

We are proud to announce how Sen. Martin Heinrich has stepped to the plate again. Last blog he announced his support for Keith Ellison, here he stood up for Standing Rock, while our other Democratic representatives in Washington are being a bit more timid. This link will give you information on how to encourage a stronger stance from New Mexico.

We also have another opportunity to stand with our immigrant neighbors. Those of you fortunate enough to have been at our Town Hall heard from Marcella Diaz, Director for Somos Una Pueblo Unido. Somos is one of Santa Fe’s leaders in defending our immigrant neighbors. They are working hard to expand the scope of our City’s Sanctuary City protections for our immigrant neighbors. Click here to find out more about what Somos is doing and the dollar for dollar match that is currently in place. It is an important way to provide important and tangible support for Somos and our neighbors.

  2. In the initial blog about Action Planning, there was a link to the article about Somos. that has the link to their page. https://retaketheroundhouse.org/standing-with-somos-and-our-santa-fe-immigrants/

Unfortunately, while going through the website, I accidentally re-published this article and that is the source of your confusion. My bad. Paste the link above into your browser to get to the right Somos article or just go to the home page and click on the currently featured blog on Action Planning and you will find the reference quickly. ciao

  3. The link did not take me to anything about the immigrant organizing page….Thanks,Doug Conwell Happy Holidays from Earth WalksContact:  http://earthwalks.org/

  4. Hope you will post this on your site. Thanks!Doug Conwell Hiroshima Peace Memorial
