2-4-21 Alert – New Today and Tues: 3 Env. Bills, Paid Sick Leave, Repeal Abortion Ban on House Floor & Rural Opportunities

Good morning New Mexico Activists:

Things are picking up and moving quickly. It’s getting more challenging to track all of our bills and get the correct info to you. Please excuse any mistakes in advance! Committee schedules are being published, and then revised and re-published hours later. We’re doing our best to keep up. Here’s what we have today:

NEW (Again!): Thurs., Feb. 4, 9 a.m., the Senate Conservation Committee is scheduled to hear SB 83 Local Choice Energy Act, SB 112 Sustainable Economy Task ForceSB 86 Use of Water for Oil & Gas Operations (amends Produced Water Act), 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! Get talking points at the links above. We still don’t know if they’ll get to all three today, but the new order of bills is good news. Let’s give our emails and calls some credit for making this happen!

The deadline to participate in the hearing and offer public comment has passed. But you can watch the hearing at nmlegis.gov, under Webcast in the top menu bar. Please use the contact info below to call and email committee members right away to ask them to support these bills…and to urge the Chair and Vice Chair to get them all heard!
