Greetings New Mexico Activists:

A brief update: Two bills were just added to hearings already scheduled for this afternoon: SB 8 Voters’ Rights Provisions and HB 9 Unlawful Access. Details below. 

TODAY, Thurs., Feb. 10, 1/2 hr. after end of Senate Floor Session, Rm 322, Senate Finance is scheduled to hear SB 8 Voters’ Rights Provisions. Senate Chamber was still in session as of 2 pm, so you have a little time to act. Though this bill was just added at 1 pm, the agenda says you have to sign up to participate 12 hours in advance. Hmmm. You can still try and if it doesn’t work you can watch the hearing via Webcast at nmlegis.gov. Below is what’s posted on the agenda. In the meantime, please call and email committee members to urge them to support this bill.

“For public participation or written comments email SFC@nmlegis.gov. Sponsors and Experts have 10 minutes to present the bill followed by 15 minutes each for Proponents and Opponents. Each 15 minutes will be divided by up to ten speakers that may either participate virtually or in-person. You will be contacted by our Zoom Operator with the virtual meeting instructions. Written comments must include your Name, Entity Represented, Bill #, For or Against and limit to 300 words or less. All Committee Members will have access to written comments. The DEADLINE is 12 hours prior to meeting time.”
